In my view, time has proven Semillon to be the only white variety grown in the Barossa Valley capable of producing a world class wine. And whilst other eminently more popular varieties have been planted in the dry Barossan soils over the years, none have produced a wine of excellence, and none have endured.

"80yo vines; hand harvested; whole-bunch pressed; fermented and matured 8 months on lees in old oak barrels. Full-throttle Barossa Valley old-vine semillon set for a future of white Bordeaux proportions! This is a powerful vintage that unites lemon fruit, cashew-nut oak, electric acidity and lanolin development in larger-than-life proportions. A bright, straw-green hue and searing acid cut proclaim its youth and grand potential."
Tyson Stelzer Halliday Wine Companion

“Barossa semillon is among Australia's unsung heroes. It is a consistently delicious drink, sharing the melody of citrus, lanolin and, with age, the marmalade notes of its Hunter brethren. Barossa's chord is richer, more textural and a bit waxy. And so this is. A brilliant yellow with green edges. While picked on the fresher side (10.5%), age has filled it out across a midriff licked with verdant herb, while the acidity continues to tow it long. Very.”
